Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) finished third in the New Hampshire primary with 19.8 percent of the vote on February 11, an improvement after finishing fifth in the Iowa caucus.

Klobuchar passed both former-Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), a surge referred to as #klomentum on social media. After finishing fifth in Iowa, Klobuchar redirected many resources to New Hampshire in hopes of a turnaround, which clearly paid off.

Seeing her potential appeal to moderate Democratic voters, Klobuchar launched a six-day campaign to gain momentum in New Hampshire. During the New Hampshire primary debate, Klobuchar said about President Donald Trump that “there is a complete lack of empathy in this guy in the White House right now, and I will bring that to you. If you have trouble stretching your paycheck to pay for that rent, I know you, and I will fight for you.” Klobuchar also spent almost $250,000 on New Hampshire local advertisements leading up to the primary and employed twice the number of people in New Hampshire that she had in Iowa.

According to an AP VoteCast survey of more than 3,000 Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire, more than half of Klobuchar's supporters made the decision to vote for her in the last few days before the primary. Political analysts and politicians are curious whether Klobuchar’s momentum will continue into the Nevada caucus on February 22.
