Western Europe & Canada

Defying Simplification

The Caravel’s Western Europe & Canada section is dedicated to covering underreported regional news. While Europe is often oversimplified as simply the EU, our section aims to highlight the individual political and cultural news of each country. Staff reporters’ knowledge of local languages assists our thorough reporting on details of stories that mainstream media sources may omit. As a section, we are dedicated to contextualizing individual events within the broader scope of European and Transatlantic politics. By both exploring underrepresented topics and situating them within the trends of the region, we hope to provide our readers with a detailed and nuanced understanding of the region.
