Bunn Award for Journalistic Excellence

Every year, the Georgetown Office of Fellowships, Awards, and Resources (GOFAR) selects the winners of the Father Bunn Award for Journalistic Excellence from a pool of the best journalists on campus. Here are the Caravel’s winners!

2020 Bunn Award Winners

Winning 3rd place in the Commentary Category was Editor-in-Chief Madison Stern's Editorial Board piece: "Georgetown Disclosure Policy Leaves Adjunct Bias Unchecked."  She dug up some very surprising things about the activities of a few professors on this campus and directed the Editorial Board to publish the piece. We got shouted at in the process of publishing this.

Winning 2nd place in the Features Category was Director of Digital Operations Advait Arun's Compass World Piece: "Global Swarming." He noticed that few news outlets, if any, were stressing coverage of a locust outbreak that had spread to more than ten countries around the Indian Ocean. The piece is both an in-depth look at an under-reported issue and a warning about the effects of climate change.
