Australia - Sept 25

The coalition government in Australia has struck a deal that will give refugees under Australian custody the option of a three-year temporary protection visa or a five-year safe haven enterprise visa. The latter option will allow refugees to "confine" themselves to areas with labor shortages. However, if refugees decide to apply for these newly designated visas, they are still deprived of certain rights, such as family reunions and the option to apply for a permanent refugee visa.
