Bangladesh - Oct 30

Bangladesh's Election Working Group noted in a policy proposal that no transparency exists in the current election system. Candidates are able to accept unlimited private funds without disclosure of donors. The three main parties emphasized that transparency is necessary, with a particular emphasis on the use of public funds, donation limits, and release of donor names. The last election, in January, saw 153 individuals elected uncontested with over 45.5 crore (over $5 million) spent. Source: The Daily Star
