Burundi - Nov 11

In preparation for Burundi’s 2015 elections, the government have requested a UN electoral observer mission. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has since appointed Cassam Uteem, former President of Mauritius, as his Special Envoy and the Head of the UN electoral Observation Mission in Burundi (MENUB). This is an important step as Burundi’s safety and stability was prioritized back in 2006 by the UN Peacebuilding Commission due to its history of bloodshed and violence. Source: All Africa
