Central America - Sept 12
Central America is facing one of the worst droughts in its history. Almost two months without rain, corn and bean crops have been lost and 2.5 million people are on the brink of starvation in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. The World Food Programme (WFP), according to Miguel Barreto (director for the Latin America and the Caribbean division), needs $80 million to deal with the situation. Source: El País
