2,000 people protested peacefully against the Sivens dam project in southwestern Tarn region. The dam project is controversial and causing political disagreement. Green party says the dam will destroy biodiversity while socialists say it will benefit the economy by helping farmers better irrigate crops. Protests have become violent since they were sparked by the death of 21-year-old Rémi Fraisse’s during police clashes over the weekend.
