Germany – Mar 20
Lufthansa Airlines, which implemented a planned strike on Wednesday and Thursday (March 18-19), extended the strike through Friday as well. Lufthansa is currently working to eradicate a program that allows pilots to retire at age fifty-five and continue to receive 60% of their salary until age sixty-five; the pilot’s union hopes that the strike will put pressure on management during negotiations. Strikes cost the airline over $230 million last year alone. Source: BBC News
