Germany – Mar 27

Andreas Lubitz, the copilot of the Germanwings flight that crashed into the French Alps on March 24, killing 150 people, evidently hid from his employer a diagnosis of a mental illness. Based on recordings recovered from the plane, Lubitz began an eight–minute descent into the mountains after locking his co-pilot out of the cockpit. The details of his diagnosis are not yet public, and the investigation is ongoing. Sources: BBC News, New York Times
