Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone

On Friday, China announced that it would donate $82 million to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea to battle Ebola, which would be China’s largest round of aid to date. This is the fourth round of aid China has sent to combat the virus, and China also currently has hundreds of aid workers in the region. The World Food Programme had said on Monday that China’s corporations were lagging in contributions despite vast economic ties to the region, so this fourth round of aid can be viewed not just as a demonstration of international cooperation in the fight against Ebola, but also as China's attempt to maintain and increase power and influence in the region.
