Amatyra Sen, a Nobel laureate in economics, has resigned from his post as Chancellor of Nalanda University despite unanimous consent from fellow board members that Sen should continue. Sen wrote that political interference in education was becoming a great issue in India and identified Pranab Mukherjee, India's President, as often unnecessarily reversing or delaying actions at Nalanda University. Nalanda University's campus opened in 2014 to much international fanfare.
