Indonesia - Apr 9

In an effort to curb demand for dollars and ease downward pressure on the rupiah, Indonesia’s central bank has imposed a ban on the use of foreign currencies in domestics transactions. Beginning in July 1, cash as well as non-cash transactions using foreign exchange will be banned. Bank Indonesia hopes these regulations would discourage “a dollarised economy” and “uphold the sovereignty of the rupiah.”
