Libyan Peace Talks Beginning Next Week Peace talks will begin next week between two factions fighting for control of the Libyan government . The first group, a parliamentary House of Representatives with international recognition, announced that it has suspended a law preventing government workers from the 40-year Muammar Gaddafi reign from working in the new government. The second group, the General National Congress, elected their own prime minister after the Libra Dawn rebel group took control over the capital, Tripoli. Prior peace talks in September were unsuccessful.
