Mozambique - Oct 14
As elections take place in Mozambique on October 15, the new political party, Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), has gained strength against the two old parties, RENAMO and FRELIMO. FRELIMO has been in power since the country’s independence and has fought RENAMO, its old rival, politically and in Mozambique’s sixteen year long civil war. The MDM, led by Daviz Simango, has defeated FRELIMO in some local elections and is predicted by some to make major gains in the upcoming election. Source: All Africa
