Sweden, Syria, Iraq - Dec 5
Sweden has taken in more refugees per capita than any other European nation. The impact of this is best reflected in the town of Sodertalje, which is home to 30,000 refugees from Syria and Iraq, or over one-fourth of its total population. Another 95,000 refugees are expected to arrive next year and this may be partly responsible for shifting attitudes in the country, as previous Prime Minister Frederik Reinfeld had lost his office in part due to his support for the plight of refugees. Across Europe conservative political parties have taken advantage of rising distaste for immigration and there is a chance the same may occur in Sweden
