Argentina - Jan 19
Alberto Nisman, the special prosecutor of the AMIA (Argentine Israeli Mutual Association) bombing of 1994, was found dead in his home late Sunday night. Nisman was scheduled to give evidence that supported his allegations against President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and foreign minister Timerman. Nisman had accused Fernandez de Kirchner of ordering impunity for the Iranian suspects in order to establish trade relations with Iran. Nisman admitted to receiving threats after his accusations were made public but his death was an apparent suicide. His "suicide" has been deemed suspicious by Argentine and world press and is being investigated. Source: Buenos Aires Herald, El Clarin
