Bangladesh - 13 Jan

A peace march was held yesterday in Bangladesh's Rangamati province to protest violence between indigenous Adivasi inhabitants and Bangalee settlers. Recent tensions between the two groups led to a weapons-purchase ban on iron sticks and catapults, which have been used in past clashes. The indigenous groups of Bangladesh, which are often Hindu, have long clashed with the Bangalee settlers and in 1997 the two groups signed a land contract, which is now contested in Rangamati.  Source: The Daily Star
