Hussein Radjabu, a leading dissident in Burundi, escaped from prison before midnight on Sunday evening with the apparent aid of three of the prison’s guards. Radjabu was serving a 13-year term for plotting against the state, and with tensions growing in the country over the President’s plans to seek a third term, the timing of the escape cannot be overlooked.
