Cambodia - March 4

Despite an unofficial halt to inter-country adoptions, the Ministry of Social Affairs recently advocated for partner countries to reforge their adoption partnerships and re-opened the application process for international adoption agencies. This statement was made as part of a long, drawn-out attempt to bring order to Cambodia's faulty adoption process, which has been plagued with allegations of human trafficking due to weak laws and tax enforcement. Italy is so far the only country to re-establish its memorandum of understanding with Cambodia on inter-country adoptions. Source: The Phnom Penh Post
