Former Khmer Rouge leaders Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan have appealed their verdicts for crimes against humanity. Chea and Samphan have both contested that the crimes committed were not accurately represented in court, and that the verdict was erroneous and based on false evidence. Convicted this summer for their actions during the 1970s Khmer Rouge regime, the trial itself was seen as a step forward for human rights. Source: The Phnom Penh Post
