Zimbabwe - Sept 30

A junior government minister in Zimbabwe revealed that an extra 2,056 schools are needed in the country in order to create an improved learning environment, yield better academic results, and completely eliminate the hot-seating system. Some students in Zimbabwe are forced to travel 24 km to school each day only to attend half of the classes they should be as a result of overcrowding, and teachers are underpaid and work in deplorable conditions. The government of the country has claimed to be dedicated to improving education in Zimbabwe, however, current economic conditions have left the education sector on the verge of collapse and the government unable to implement necessary reforms.
