China - Oct 31

On October 31, 2014, China’s lunar orbiter returned to Earth successfully, being one of the first orbiters to travel to the moon and back in over 40 years. The lunar orbiter, nicknamed “Xiaofei” was built as part of a test run for China’s lunar space program, called Chang’e 5. The object of the orbiter’s 8-day mission around the moon and back was to not only obtain data on the re-entry technology, but also data on the trajectory for any future moon landings. China hopes that the data gathered from this test would allow Chang’e 5 to successfully gather samples from the moon and return to Earth in 2017. Source: xinhuanet.com
