East Timor - March 20th
Despite improvements in healthcare and disease-prevention, 97 people died from Dengue fever in Timor-Leste during the months of January and February of 2015. The cases were largely confined to parts of Dili, the nation's capital, and Baucau and the majority of deaths have been of children between the ages of 5 and 14. Improper waste disposal that festers dengue fever continues to be an issue. To combat this, $30,000 will be allotted to the Dili Sanitation Department to help control the waste disposal. (Dili Weekly)
