In a troubling demonstration of the expansion of the Islamic State’s ideology, Egypt’s notorious Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis pledged loyalty to IS’ al-Baghdadi. Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis is a Sinai-based jihadist group which emerged following the ousting of Hosni Mubarack and its grops stepped up attacks following the Egyptian military’s overthrowal of Muhammad Morsi in July of last year. The group was responsible behind last month’s deadly attacks, which killed over thirty soldiers, and caused Egypt to initiate a state of emergency in the Sinai peninsula. Source: RT
