France’s finance ministry has ordered an investigation into why female consumers are paying more than males for apparently identical items. More than 30,000 signatures were attracted in an online petition over price discrepancies between household products marketed towards women and equivalent brands marketed towards men. Gaining support over social media, the phenomenon has been referred to as the "pink" or "woman" tax. Source: The Guardian, The Local
