Gambia - Sept 29

Last week at the U.N. General Assembly, the President of The Republic of Gambia Al Hadji Yahya Jammeh called upon to the U.N. to conduct a “full and impartial investigation” into the recent sinking of ships full of African immigrants heading to Europe. More than 130,000 people have fled Africa, particularly from Egypt, Eritrea and Sudan, seeking entry into Europe in poorly constructed boats. However, many immigrants to do not reach their destinations due to the sinking of their ships, which the President Jammeh labels as “manmade,” sabotage intent on killing black Africans. President Jammeh cites an incident earlier this month in which 500 migrants died as a result of their shipped being rammed by traffickers. Source: Reuters
