Georgia - June 17th, 2014

The June 15 elections have failed to produce a Mayor for Tbilisi. With 50% serving as the amount of total votes needed to secure the position, frontrunner Davit Narmania missed the cut-off by three percentage points. His party, Georgian Dream, fared better than him, proving to gain the majority of seats in local elections. With the lowest turnout rates in recent years (43%), the Georgian government is concerned about the future of politics in the country-citizens clearly do not care enough to vote. http://www.eurasianet.org/node/68596
