Greece - Jan 27
Led by Alexis Tsipras, the far-left Syriza party was victorious in January 26th parliamentary elections in Greece. The new Prime Minister was appointed based on his promise end recent austerity measures that have crippled Greece’s economy. Other EU governments are hesitant o accept a completely new political landscape in Greece and will likely lead tough negotiations with international creditors. Such leaders demand that Greece settle its debts before making any further economics plans. Tsipras intends to join forces with another right-wing anti-austerity party to institute reforms and improve Greece’s dire economic situation.
