Indonesia - Feb 25

Relations between Indonesia and Australia have been strained as Indonesia prepares to execute 11 convicts on death row. Two convicts have Australian citizenship, sparking an outcry from the Australian government. Despite Australia’s repeated pleas for mercy, the Indonesian authority remains unmoved, and President Joko Widodo says that foreign countries should not interfere in Indonesia’s legal system. On February 25th, Australia appealed to Widodo again and believes that “[the convicts] should be spared and they should be given a second chance.”
