Iran’s military is engaged in exercises in the Strait of Hormuz this week, specifically running drills aimed at attacking United States aircraft carriers. The Iranians constructed a replica of a carrier and practiced targeting it. The drills come in the wake of negotiations between the two countries regarding Iran’s nuclear program. The goal is to reach an agreement by the end of March. These exercises also took place near the Strait of Hormuz, a potential hotspot due to its importance the Gulf oil trade.
