Italy - Nov 7
Over the past few months, flooding in Italy (Tuscany, Liguria, and Venice) has had disastrous effects. Since more than 100 cm of rain have been predicted for Rome, the capital is preparing for potential flooding as well. Poor land management is also thought to be a contributing factor. The flooding has been detrimental to the agricultural sector since it destroyed orchards, vineyards and drowned livestock. Just this year, farmers have forfeited around 1 billion euros due to bad weather. This comes at a time when the Italian agricultural sector is struggling after a Russian embargo on EU foodstuffs.
