Five national schools in Kenya cheated on the 2014 KCSE exams, according to the Education CS; The Education CS, Jacob Kaimenyi, wished to make the cheating scandal known to the national and international communities, but not the schools in question themselves. Kaimenyi reported that around 179 students were caught with cell phones during the exams, which is against procedure, and that many school officials were complicit in such activity. However, such reports go against the 22% drop in cheating from 2013 to 2014. On a related note, the secondary school drop-out rate in Kenya continues to be around 7.85%, which some attribute to child labor and abuse. Source: All Africa
