Kenya - Oct 31

A new project is underway in rural Kenya that is meant to provide incentive for families to send their daughters to school. Instead of marrying off their young daughters for a dowry, the local Kenyan governments plan on offering families nine cows to families so that they can compensate for the loss of income of a child marriage by sending their daughters to school. The government says it plans to increase livestock breeding in order to sustain this project. Source: BBC Africa
