In light of the Westgate Mall attack that occurred one year ago, President Uhuru Kenyatta gave commentary on combatting militant groups like Al-Shabaab and ISIS. Primarily, he stresses the importance of equipping young people with the tools and resources to resist the the recruitment and radical ideology of these groups. Kenyatta asserts that too many vulnerable spaces are being left for youth to get swept up into extremism: not only by the internet, but also in civil spaces like religious centers, educational institutions and refugee camps.
