Mali - Sept 30

During the United Nations General Assembly, Secretary-General held a special session on Mali to search for means of achieving peace and stability in the country. At the meeting, the French foreign minister raised the possibility of making progress through peace talks between the Malian government and rebel groups held in Algiers. The French have played a key role in containing violence in Mali since their intervention. The Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita also made optimistic remarks regarding opening a dialogue between the opposing sides in Mali. Source: allAfrica
