Despite Western sanctions on Russia as punishment for the crisis in Crimea, Russian gas giant Gazprom has experienced huge profits. With a 13% jump in revenue to $5.6 billion it seems that the sanctions in conjunction with Ukrainian inability to pay their $5.4 billion gas bill has had minimal effects on the Russian energy sector. This is further proof that Gazprom is wildly successful even in the face of adversary, putting into question whether the Russian gas and oil sectors are too big to fail. Source: The Moscow Times
