Saudi Arabia Seeks Russian Concessions for Oil Deal Saudi Arabian officials are negotiating with their Russian counterparts over oil prices and Russian involvement in Syria, says the New York Times. Saudi Arabia wants Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw his support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, support without which, according to a senior Obama administration official, the Syrian army would be unable to function. Saudi Arabia could potentially cut its massive oil production, thus increasing oil prices and boosting Russia’s oil revenue, if Russia agrees to Saudi demands.
