Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, 91, passed away at Singapore General Hospital on March 23, after suffering from severe pneumonia for almost two months. Mr. Lee was Singapore’s founding father, serving as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1990 and transforming the island nation from a colonial trading post to an independent and thriving city state. On the morning of his death, thousands lined the streets along the route from Istana to Parliament House, as the body of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was conveyed in a gun carriage.
