Social activist Thicha Na Nakorn has resigned from the Constitution Drafting Committee, due to the failure of charter drafters to decide on gender quotas for elected bodies. Mrs. Thicha had been advocating that women be required to make up at least a third of local elected bodies. However, several other drafters disagreed, citing concerns that female relatives of male politicians would be elevated due to nepotism rather than merits.
