The Democratic Republic of the Congo - Feb 27

Congolese forces drove rebels from hills in heavy fighting in North Kivu province on Friday. The insurgency is part of a two decade long conflict, and the rebel forces contain remnants of fighters involved in the Rwandan Genocide. Since moving into the Congo, it is clear that these groups have sought natural resources including gold and diamonds and so have engaged in periodic assaults against the Congolese government.
