Turkey - Oct 30

Turkey’s new presidential palace, at an astounding 2,150,000 square feet occupies almost 50 times the floor space of the White House. Many are furious with this extravagant complex, ordered by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, because it is constructed in what should be protected forestlands. The $350 million spent on the building also draws criticism from opposing politicians, however, Erdogan believes that the people need a structure to remind the people that Ankara is a Seljuk capital; therefore the building reflects several Ottoman themes.
