Vietnam - April 11

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the next stage of a program to build elevated houses for people affected by floods in the Mekong Delta. New erosion spots have continued emerging, signifying the need for resettling people living in flood prone areas. The programme will continue to lend to those affected by the crisis from low socio-economic backgrounds. Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung indicated that damage by storms and floods has decreased by 15% from last year since the implementation of the programme.
