Afghanistan - February 17th

An attack on Afghan police by the Afghani Taliban follows Afghan law enforcement's attempted attack on Taliban strongholds in Helmand province. The frequency of Taliban attacks has increased since NATO-led Western forces left the area, and today's attack saw 20 officers killed. The back-and-forth between the two rival groups has sparked concern about Afghanistan's safety, and recently Pakistan offered to help train Afghan military cadets to combat terrorism.
