Chad, Nigeria - Feb 4
Chad’s army claims to have killed over 200 militant Islamists in a successful attempt to recapture Chibok, a key town in northeastern Nigeria. This is the largest battle up to date known to involve Chadian troops since they entered the conflict last month, and with the increasing pressure placed on Nigeria’s military to reclaim lost territory, the victory could be a clear sign of future success against Boko Haram.
