Pilots from the German national airline, Lufthansa, have stated their intentions to go on strike this week.  The pilot's union Vereinigung Cockpit have been engaged in an ongoing dispute with the airline over its planned cuts to the early retirement benefits program.  Other points of contention are Lufthansa's proposed moves to expand its low-cost operations and lower working conditions for younger pilots.
