India - Oct 18

India announced a new National Air Quality Index (AQI) to measure pollutants and health effects, after Delhi was ranked the world's most polluted city. The AQI ranks air quality based on measured particle matter compared to recommended levels and will be piloted in 66 cities. Although previous programs monitoring air pollution exist, the AQI is part of a larger "Clean India" which aims for air pollution information to be available to the public.
