Iraq - Mar 24

The United States has begun to share intelligence with the Iraqi government in support of its campaign to retake the city of Tikrit from the Islamic State. The United States had previously stayed out of the attack, which is being spearheaded by Shia militias with Iraqi government backing.  The militias have been trying to retake Tikrit for a month, but are struggling to deal with Islamic State bombs in the center of the city. Victory in Tikrit is a crucial step towards retaking the city of Mosul, near Baghdad, later this year. Source: BBC News
