During a summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting, or ASEM, Japanese Prime Minister Abe and Russian President Putin had a brief conversation and agreed to talk on bilateral issues. While Japan imposed sanctions on Russia over Ukraine conflict, Putin stated that he understands the necessity to improve Japan-Russia relationship.
