Anthropologists and archeologists have concluded that the massive ancient city of Teotihuacan was brought down by social revolts led by a burgeoning middle class. DNA tests of people that lived near the central Pyramid of the Sun revealed that many of them who came to the city lacked proper nutrition and worked extremely strenuous jobs. Anthropologists believe that the emerged middle class gained a thirst for power and attempted to overthrow the ruling class. Source: El País
